The newly merged Jaluit Company opens a trading station on Kosrae.

What happened

The Jaluit Company (Jaluit-Gesellschaft) was formed in 1887 when German trading firms merged, and it opened a trading station on Kosrae that year. Spain took no part in the copra trade, which German firms dominated.
