A religious revival brings about half the population into the church.
What happened
By this time Kosrae was the center of American Protestant mission work in Micronesia, with mission training schools at Mwot, and the church had long shaped island politics. The revival came after a steep population collapse from introduced disease: Hezel estimates Kosrae fell to about 300 people around 1890. The date comes from a compiled COM-FSM teaching outline that warns its details may differ from other sources.
