What happened

The station on Toloas (Dublon) gave Germany its own government post in Chuuk Lagoon, whose roughly 20 islands held about 11,000 people. The German encyclopedia of 1920 notes that the government had raised the standing of chiefs and that raiding wars had cost many lives until a few years earlier.
