What happened

The 1920 German colonial encyclopedia states that “in 1909/1910 this feudal lordship” was abolished, later than Governor Hahl’s 1907 announcement. Under the reform, tribute to chiefs gave way to individual landholding and labor for the government, and printed German land deeds followed from 1912.
