Olter returns to Pohnpei from Houston on a US military medical evacuation aircraft.
What happened
Relatives, officials, traditional leaders, diplomats and an honour guard met Olter and First Lady Amalia at Pohnpei’s airport. He had been declared unable to serve in November 1996, and Nena became president in May 1997, when the 180 days for Olter to declare himself fit ran out.
