Election for 10 two-year congressional seats. Close races in Chuuk District 5 and Pohnpei District 2; observers note irregularities.

What happened

Early counts left out off-island ballots, and one seat went to a recount. In Pohnpei District 2, Dion Neth beat Berny Martin by 58 votes, and in Chuuk District 5 Tony Otto won by 25. The 18 observers from the Asia Pacific Democracy Partnership reported “some irregularities and procedural inconsistencies.”
